About the Outagamie County Fair Association

The Outagamie County Fair Association was established in 1884 and held its first fair in Seymour in 1885. Harness racing was the primary attraction along with the opportunity for local farmers to showcase their cattle, crops, and machinery. A carnival was added and youth exhibitors under 4-H and FFA joined in the display of crafts, goods, and agricultural products produced in Outagamie County. Harness racing was slowly replaced by auto racing and by the 1960s big name entertainment was the main grandstand entertainment.

Each year thousands of exhibits produced by the citizens of Outagamie County are displayed during the fair. The Outagamie County Fairgrounds is owned and operated exclusively by the Association, a privately held organization charted under Sec 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Service code as a tax-exempt organization. The Outagamie County Fair Association’s purpose today is the same as in 1884: to showcase the talents of the citizens of Outagamie County, to promote agricultural innovation, and to provide great family entertainment.
